On Saturday 11 October 2025, the Rotary Club of Canberra Sunrise (RCCS) ventured down to the shores of Lake Burley Griffin on what was a beautiful, if windy Spring day, to provide a BBQ at Kings Park in support of Chime In : A Carillon Celebration, an event hosted by the National Capital Authority.
Leading the team was Roger, who enlisted the support of Club President Rosemary Everett, along with volunteers Kim, Helen, Neil, Randal, Nara and Selena. The organisers were very grateful for the RCCS voluteer chefs, as recorded on the NCA website. We were very grateful for the help of our next-door neighbour for the day, "Pure Gelato" who assisted us in setting up and tied our gazebo to their trailer to prevent us from being blown into the lake!.
There were many activities to entertain the crowds including Pop Canberra pop up store, face painting by the Gecko Gang, an outdoor photo station provided by Loop Booth, a "meet and greet the carillonists" session to learn about the instrument, children's arts and crafts activities and plenty to eat and drink including our RCCS barbeque, Pure Gelato, The Griff and The Strawberry Van!
This photo of RCCS volunteers (without Neil) was taken by the NCA Team with the Carillon in the background.
